How Did Our Story Begin?

Our story started in 1983, when Steve and Judy Westergard took a leap of faith and bought a carpet franchise called Mr. Carpet. Back then, the business was humble but full of heart.

They started with:

• A small storage building
• An old green station wagon
• Carpet samples loaded up for the road
• A commitment to serve customers across the region

Steve traveled from Pocatello to Ashton and everywhere in between, bringing samples directly to customers. As the business grew, so did the need for more space.

Here's a quick look at our history:

• 1983: Steve and Judy Westergard began their flooring business as Mr. Carpet
• 1985: They opened a 3,500-square-foot facility
• Late 1980s: They moved again as the business quickly outgrew that location
• 1992: They purchased an old grocery store and transformed it into a flooring store with help from friends and family
• 1995: The company joined Carpet One, the nation’s largest retail flooring co-op, and became Carpet One Floor & Home of Idaho Falls
• 2007: A new retail area and added warehouse space expanded the total facility to 13,000 square feet
• Today: We continue to serve customers from our location at 405 W. 17th Street in Idaho Falls

Our business has always been built on family, hard work, and strong relationships. Over the years, sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, friends, and even grandchildren have all been part of our team.
